Snow Storm 1 / Photo Friday - "What is It?"

Photo taken yesterday morning, the morning after the snowstorm. The snow was quite wet and heavy, perfect for plenty of snowmen, but the kids haven't been seen anywhere despite the school closings. Perhaps the snow is too deep for them?

When I looked at this photo, the first thing that I saw was the carnival ride I remember as a child. I would describe the ride as a huge octopus that had a spinning "body" with rotating cars on the ends of its "tentacles." The tentacles being the pictured evergreen branches which are weighed down in varying heights.

It reminds me of those toys that you connect to a hose and that spray in all directions. The heavy snow reallt distorted the look of the tree/shrub, cool shot! It's quite a contrast from yesterday's shot.

@Eduarda: There's still more to come. The morning after the storm seems to be the best time to get photos as long as the sun does not destroy what I tried to capture!

@Ina: Photo Friday is a quasi photoblogging "community" where you post images every Friday on your on blog that relate to the topic that is determined for every Friday. Today's category is "What is It?" Last Friday was "Misty." I've been participating for a few months, but through another web blog. But since enrolling with Aminus3, I thought this was the more appropriate site. Everyone who participates submits their link to the page illustrating their Photo Friday submittal. Typically you will find anywhere between 150 and 300 links submitted each week. You can "google" "Photo Friday" for more info.

That octopus or spider ride was one of my favorites at the fair. It slung me around but not too radically. And it didn't go high. Don't like heights! Nice cold picture. I can imagine looking at this through my window while wrapped in a hand-knitted shawl, holding a steaming cup of tea or hot chocolate, and a fire crackling in the fireplace behind me.
