The LedgePosted by Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 13 October 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio. The newest addition to the Sears Tower, officially now known as Willis Tower. There are four ledges that the Sears Tower has from its 103rd floor, known as the Skydeck. It's a $14.95 trip up to the 103rd floor, so I thought I better try a few of the four ledges they have, what some have referred to as glass balconies. The balconies can each hold a gross weight of five tons each, 1,353 feet up in the air. In comparison to previous days in Chicago, this was a cloudy day, which didn't always provide the most pleasing views. But it was interesting to see clouds pass us by, at eye level, during an approaching rain storm. This photo was captured from the north side of the Sears Tower, looking east. I was out on one of three ledges looking east toward the other two ledges. You can see the fork in the Chicago River below with the Chicago Sun-Times building located right at the fork. Photo taken September 25, 2009.
