For Whom the "Bells Toll"

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 29 October 2008 in Architecture and Portfolio.

Not quite the same as the title to one of Ernest Hemingway's greatest works, the bells at Altgeld Hall at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, provide Westminster chimes on the quarter hour, along with musical preludes at noon (11:50 AM). Freshman year I remember leaving my Calculus class from Altgeld Hall at noon and being greeted with the theme song to the Flintstones every now and then. Not exactly what one expects to hear.
