Wind-Blown Hair

Posted by Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 15 May 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

This royal tern was spotted on the beach as I began my long 3-mile walk to the main pier on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Walking through the sand here is like walking through powdered sugar. Photo taken March 18, 2009.

Obviously, feathers are blown by the wind ! I'm happy to see that even birds feel unconfortable with wind on the beach (got sand in your eyes too ?) :-)

You have some beautiful sand there . . just like sugar as you say. Love how birds face into the wind in those conditions . .
