I'm still on the fence about HDR and b&w photos but I do have to admit that it really does bring out the texture of the snow which all too often can be bleached out. Your trees pop as well. You are a brave soul to weather the .. weather. I probably should get out there and try my hand at winter photography too. Today there is a ton of snow for it!
