The Aqua Building #2

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 27 April 2010 in Architecture and Portfolio.

The Aqua Building of Chicago, as seen from the northwest corner of the building. As you can tell from yesterday's photo, the building takes on a whole new dimension when seen close up. The varying depths of the balconies help give the building its amoebic form.

Tomorrow the building starts to "swell up."

You genius! For some reason it makes me think of a whale skeleton the way the balconies look like fins. Odd perhaps. What would you charge for a copy?

Very interesting to observe how the facade seems to be moving. Great effect for a static structure.

I am amazed this got built - someone must have been very persuasive in explaining the concept . . will be interesting to see how it 'matures'.

You show me things down there I have never seen. I mean my highpoint a good 20 years ago was the Sears Tower! Wow this building is cool. I am going to make a list from your images so when I go downtown with my cousin who used to do tours there, I can get her to show me all these places!

I've been dying to get downtown and see this building ever since the Tribune wrote about it. Looks fantastic in your shots.
