The Waiting Room

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 9 March 2011 in Architecture and Portfolio.

Passengers let time pass by as they rest on the benches inside the Great Hall of Union Station. The Jackson Boulevard entrance is through the columns on the right, while Canal Street is through the columns and up the staircase on the left. This ends my Union Station series....finally. ;-)

Photo captured February 8, 2011.

Nice capture. All the people scattered means you could get some people shots probably quite easily, if you aren't as shy as me.

@¨‘°ºO Dutçh Oº°‘¨: I am just as shy, if not moreso. Yesterday I was taking photos inside Chicago City Hall and police officers kept asking me if I was taking photos of people because "people are uncomfortable with having their pictures taken." I then went to the Rookery Building only to discover I couldn't go above the main floor. Next time I'll have to go with a "point and shoot" camera and act like I am going to a specific office.

Great series, Steven - You've made me remember how much I used to like walking through there...(my train gets in at the NWestern station, so I'll have to make a point of walking through there again, next time!)

I love this shot - like out of the 40's a wonderful view. I always have misgivings about shooting photos of people as well...not sure what the answer is but this is great - I say keep it up :-0
