New York, New York - Las Vegas

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 27 July 2011 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Located at the corner of Tropicana Avenue, the Statue of Liberty stands in front of the New York, New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Towering behind and to the right of Lady Liberty is CityCenter with the 47-story Mandarin Oriental which is a world class hotel and residential tower with 392 guest rooms and 225 distinctive residences.

The roller coaster to the left of Lady Liberty is part of the New York New York development and will lift you up 203 feet, drop you down 144 feet and leave you coasting at 67 MPH. This Las Vegas ride experience simulates a jet fighter's barrel roll while taking you on the famous "heartline" twist.

The postal service used this Ms. Liberty on a stamp rather than the real one. This one is definitely cool. Great shot.

The compression provided by the lens adds to the illusion, a non too wary onlooker could easily believe that this is indeed New York.

This must be the Statue of Liberty that the USPS used for one of their stamps. Wonderful shot - they use every inch of land they can in Vegas, don't they?

Never been to Vegas, and only been to Reno, but that was when I was 18 or 19. Wonder what
New Yorkers think of these things when confronted by them so full force. What a great photo
with so much in it and what a fantastic composition. Must confuse, one minute you might be in
NYC and the other in Egypt and then considering gambling paid for all this. One of the best things
about your site is that you do some explaining. I love the two shows I watch all the time in vegas
on the History channel, Ricks Restoration, and Pawn Stars. They give some history and are pretty
fascinating on the Restoration of things like coke machines, old cars, even bikes and wagons.
