View of the beach below the walled city of Tulum, Mexico.
Due to storms and hurricanes in the recent past, much of the beach has been eroded below. Tourists used to be able to walk down to the beach along cliffs. But now due to the beach erosion, the primary means to the beach is by a wooden staircase.

@Karen Politte: Karen, I would strongly recommend seeing Tulum. It was amazing to see. The only drawback is that seeing it as part of a shore excursion from a cruise ship I think really shortened the amount of time that we had to see everything in comparison to those who may vacation in Cancun and see Tulum as a day trip. Just a thought. I also always put in my narratives when the photos were taken and as you can see, this was taken on November 18, 2011. And despite being November it was still VERY, VERY hot!
