A Double Take

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 5 November 2013 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

A sculpture by John Seward Johnson II spotted outside the entrance to the Key West Lighthouse had me do a double-take, if for only a second or two, thinking that these were real ladies seated at the bench. Of course, I was much further away at the time I thought they were real. :-)

Photo captured September 25, 2013.

J Seward Johnson is from nearby to where I live. Beginning tomorrow I will be posting some sculptures from his Grounds For Sculpture - he is not the artist of every sculpture there, but of many of them. I am a huge fan of his realistic statues. This is magnificent!

At first glance, I thought the lady in pink was real and she was talking to a statue! They are having quite a conversation. An incredible piece of art! Beautifully captured!
