All Lined Up

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 10 September 2018 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

The well-manicured lawn of this estate leads my eyes to the gazebo and patio that provide relaxation while overlooking Lake Geneva.

Something barely noticeable that bisects the lawn is a path that runs parallel with the lake. All property owners along the Lake Geneva shoreline are required to provide an easement for a path for the general public to use so that people have access along the lakefront.

Photo captured July 8, 2018.

Oh, WOW, Steven, that the public is allowed access to what elsewhere would be deemed private property!

The light and color are stunning. I love the way you composed this view. That pathway reminds me of where I live along the Delaware River. Our property extends across the street down into the river itself. But we have to accept for the road that travels through the village, although technically it belongs to each of us who live along here.

This obligation of the owners to provide an easement for a path for the general public, I think is an excellent idea. Because no one owns the lake. The lake belongs to everyone.
Having a home on this place is really a luxury.

A wonderful photo of this lovely house and grounds. I like the enlightened approach that allows access to people so they can enjoy the lake, too. When photographing the covered bridges of Oregon, land owners near some of them put fencing and signage close to the bridges to deter public access to the streams below.

I wish we have such law for the Thames.
Some segments of the river are privately owned, so you have to walk back to the main road then continue on the Thames Path later.
