Personal Protective Equipment?

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 7 April 2020 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

Photo of boats shrink-wrapped in Waukegan. The shrink wrap protects the boats from the harsh weather elements while being stored outside during the winter months. Given what we are currently experiencing world-wide, personal protective equipment came to mind when I saw these covered boats.

Stay safe during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Photo captured March 30, 2020.

an appropriate image for the times, though I note the yachts are left out in the cold , perhaps just the masts. Do they disinfect the boats first? As I would imagine a sealed bag creates the perfect conditions for the proliferation of fungus and mold.

Yes, it's hard to imagine that in a rich nation like ours that we would not have enough gear to keep the medical workers safe. Our national stockpile is so puny because successive Congresses have cut funding for it. I just wonder if we'll learn any lessons from this fiasco.

Nice shot - love your title! The medical director of our hospital's pediatric ICU went to Home Depot and bought 355,000 square feet of Tyvec building wrap, and she has a small army of Flagstaff volunteers sewing them into PPE's for hospital staff! The owner of Wet Dreams River Supply heard about it, and offered to use his industrial cutter (he repairs all kinds of water proof and inflatable equipment including the Colorado River rafts), to do the initial patterns. Makes me wonder if these things could be used for the same? I love our community!
