A Microburst?

Posted by
Steven (Chicagoland, United States) on 7 May 2024 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

Storm damage done to the residence when trees from their neighbor's property fell on the corner of their residence. Due to the limited damage area, and damage that did not result from a tornado that traveled in a path, many meteorologists believed that it was a microburst whose force toppled many trees in the local area.

No matter the name it is still damage. And a horror or the house owners. It does make a very dramatic picture. I hope that the owner is well insured.

I've been following the tornadoes in the US on radio and TV, and it's tragic. Some have lost everything and have nothing left of their lives. I'm glad to see that the damage in this photo was not too severe.

These weather phenomena (Microburst, Downburst) are spreading even in the Mediterranean, where until a few years ago they were unknown. They don’t unleash the violence of tornadoes, but they are potentially very destructive, especially if they catch us by surprise.

Ouch! Fortunately, the damage doesn't look too bad!
Nature is out of control everywhere (storms, tornadoes, floods, drought) and it's sad for the future!
Nice capture.

A great photo for the prompt; an invisible force. I've been in the forest on windy days and sometimes I would hear a big cracking sound as a tree breaks apart. Kind of frightening.

I shudder when we have severe thunderstorms and high winds. I have several older pine trees in my front and back yard and I am always afraid that one of them will topple over. The people in this house were lucky that they were not hurt. Those were big branches that came down on top of the house. A perfect image for this week's prompt.

Thank God. It was not a major damage to the house. Great shot. :)

I think that because of accidents like these, here, as a general rule, there are no trees near houses. There are rare places (only if they are in older and more historic places) where there are trees that could fall on a house.
On the other hand, it is more common to have accidents involving landslides in the hills.
